In the Parks

In the Parks aims to increase long term participation in sport across five of the Olympic host boroughs (Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest).  The East London Business Alliance (ELBA) has staged a series of annual sports festivals (One Movement)  These festivals were free events where local clubs provided taster sessions in a number of sports.  The National Lottery is, through the Olympic Lottery Distributor, contributing £680,656.71 to In the Parks.

ELBA's first event, BikeJam was held on 18 September 2010 in Newham and coincided with the final stage of the Tour of Britain.

A further three events were held in 2011 in Tower Hamlets (Mile End Stadium), Hackney (Clissold Park), and Waltham Forest (Waltham Forest Pool and Track) attracting 4,000 local people.

In 2012 ELBA staged events at the Copper Box Arena on the Olympic Park, at the Live Site in Victoria Park and at Chestnut Field in Waltham Forest, reaching thousands of young people and adults.

Alongside, and linking into these events, ELBA is supporting the development needs of around 50 local sports clubs.
