Introduction to Community Grants

The Olympic Lottery Distributor has granted funding to three programmes of work which will benefit communities in the Olympic host boroughs of Hackney, Greenwich, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.  The projects are being delivered by the East London Business Alliance (ELBA) and each has a different focus relating to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In total, just over £3.12 m of National Lottery funding will be contributing to the three programmes.

'In the Parks'  is a three year programme aimed at increasing long term participation in sport.  A series of annual sports festivals have been held with the aim of developing grass roots sports participation;

'Represent London' is an employability and volunteering project where participants had the chance to access Games-time volunteering opportunities.  It is helping young people develop community and business skills and will raise aspirations;

'Transformers' is a small grant scheme supporting communities to deliver innovative projects which celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
