Location
To the west of the Olympic Park.
Status
Make Architects with PTW and Ove Arup and Partners have been apppointed as the design team for the Handball Arena. Five firms have been shortlisted to build the Handball Arena and an appointment is expected in early 2009.
Timeframe
Work is due to start on the site in summer 2009. Designs unveiled November 2008.
Purpose
Will host Handball preliminaries and quarter finals and Modern Pentathlon disciplines. Venue for goalball.
Capacity
10,000 spectator seats for Handball during the Olympic Games and 6,000 seats for Goalball during the Paralympic Games.
Post 2012
Will be adapted to become a multi sport arena for the local community.
