The Copper Box

The Copper Box is situated in the west of the Olympic Park.  Construction started in June 2009 and the venue was completed in May 2011.  During the London 2012 Games the arena was the venue for the Handball Preliminaries and Quarter Finals and the Fencing Discipline of the Modern Pentathlon and during the Paralympic Games it was the venue for Goalball.  The arena has 7,000 spectator seats for Handball and 6,000 spectator seats for Goalball.

The arena has a vibrant and multi coloured interior with retractable seating to create flexible space.  The venue houses two temporary warm up courts and after the London 2012 Games will become a multi use sports centre for community use, athletes training and small-medium sized events.
