The Olympic Park

The Olympic Park was the setting for most of the London based venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Games, including the Olympic Stadium, the Velodrome and the Aquatics Centre.  During the Games up to 180,000 spectators a day visited the Park.

The building of the Olympic Park represented one of the largest construction projects in Europe. At its peak there were 20,000 workers on site.  Work progressed well with the Park venues being completed on time and on budget.  Improvement works were carried out on the Greenway which became a walking and cycling route.

The Olympic Park, which will become the Queen Elizabeth II Park, will be the largest new urban park in the UK for over a century. Over 500 trees and thousands of wetlands plants have been planted.
